Frequently Asked Questions:

  • Can I speak to Felix before scheduling an appointment?

You definitely can and must be able to do so before I accept a new client. This 10-15 minute free consultation call will allow you to ask questions about your specific needs, help me assess whether Telehealth therapy is appropriate for you based on your acuity, and determine if we are a good fit. You can also reach out to me by clicking the contact button or emailing fmurad@muradcounseling.com.

  • Do you take insurance?

I do take insurance! However, you must call your insurance to verify that they cover your therapy and how much it will cost. The number on your insurance card can provide this information, or your health insurance online portal can sometimes provide this information. Ultimately, you will be responsible for any bills not paid by your insurer.

Questions to ask your insurance company to get a picture of what they cover and any associated costs are as follows:

Do you cover mental health outpatient services?

Is Felix Murad in the network with your insurance?

How much is your deductible, copay, & coinsurance, if any?

Are there any limitations or pre-authorization required to begin therapy?

  • Payment Options

For your convenience, I accept all credit/debit cards, including FSA/HSA cards. I also accept PayPal, Venmo, and CashApp. Unless otherwise discussed, payment is due at the start of the session. I have limited time slots reserved for people who cannot afford the entire session or are underinsured on a case-by-case basis.

  • Where are sessions held?

All sessions are completed through telehealth. Please ensure you have a good internet connection and are in a comfortable, private place. The free consultation will take place over the phone at the number you provide.

  • Cancellation/Reschedule

To our valued clients: We appreciate spontaneity but have a cancellation and rescheduling policy. Please provide at least 24 hours’ notice to avoid a $100 fee for cancellations. A $50 fee applies for rescheduling within 48 hours. Please notify us via email or message as soon as you know. Your credit card on file will be charged the fee automatically. After 2 unexcused no shows I reserve the right to terminate future sessions and provide you referrals to be seen by another therapist.

  • Do you write ESA's?

I write emotional support letters for animals as part of a thorough mental health assessment. This process may involve additional sessions to ensure a proper evaluation before making any recommendations.

  • Consultation

I provide consultation to businesses and organizations focused on mental health in the workplace, wellness program development, research, grant writing, and promoting work/life balance. My services are designed to enhance employee well-being, improve organizational culture, and support sustainable practices within the workplace.

  • I'm interested how do I start?

You made the right choice by picking me to assist you with your mental health concerns—no pressure, but I promise not to hold it against you if you didn't. Here’s the game plan to get us rolling:

Give a little jingle for an initial 15-minute consultation call. That’s right, just a quick chat; no tuxedos required!

Once you've set the stage, it's time to book your first intake session. Think of it as your first class on “Feelings 101: How to Survive Life's Rollercoaster.”

Don’t forget to complete all your pre-session paperwork online through your client portal. It’s not as tedious as it sounds—think of it as mental housekeeping, but without the dust bunnies.

If you have insurance, give them a call using the number on your card to verify your coverage. Basically, think of it as turning on the GPS for your savings!

And finally, congratulations! We are embarking on your journey to better mental health and wellness—let's make it one for the books (or at least a binge-worthy series).

  • Is Online therapy safe/secure?

Online therapy is a safe and secure option for mental health support. We take all necessary measures to ensure HIPAA compliance, which protects your privacy and confidentiality. Our platforms adhere to relevant laws and ethical guidelines, ensuring that your information is handled with the utmost care. Thus, you can trust that your therapy sessions are effective and secure.

  • Question not answered?

If you have any additional inquiries, feel free to email fmurad@muradcounseling.com. Just remember that emails sent after 5 p.m. may be answered with humor and a sprinkle of caffeine.

  • What if I am experiencing a crisis?

All services I offer are not meant to replace emergency assistance. Contact 911 or go to your local emergency room if you have an emergency. We can speak afterward. My priority is your safety. If you have been hospitalized or had any SI/HI attempts/plans in the past 60 days, you will not be accepted as a new client until it has been 4 months of no SI/HI ideation, intent, plan, or attempt. If you want to speak with someone for crisis support, you can text 988, which will answer 24 hours a day and is free of charge.

  • Conflict of Interest

I am ethically obligated to act in my client's best interest. If you found me through NOCD for OCD treatment, please go through NOCD to receive treatment and request to work with me. I cannot accept clients who found me via the NOCD website. However, you may inquire about becoming a client if you discovered my practice through your insurance or independently via my website or social media.
